BGLX provide lighting for Morgan Motors at their launch of the All New Plus Four
Last week Morgan Motors launched the All New Plus Four and BGLX provided all the lighting and sound support for the exciting event. This launch had originally been planned to take place at the Geneva Motor Show. Unfortunately organisers decided to cancel the show due to the Coronavirus outbreak. This didn’t stop Morgan Motors from pushing ahead with the launch though. They instead decided to rehouse the launch at their 1914 workshop in Malvern Link. This original factory workshop was home to the production of thousands of Three Wheelers so BGLX we delighted and very excited to step in last minute to bring the event to life!
The all-new Morgan Plus Four is a completely new model, but also a true Morgan sports car. Our brief was to design a lighting plan that showcased the distinctive Morgan silhouette while creating an atmosphere that echoed the timeless style of the brand. Time was tight so we got straight to work putting together a plan using our newly updated in-house hire stock. The event was also being filmed and a live stream was being sent all over the world, so the main space needed to be well lit, yet enticing.
How we did it
We really wanted to showcase the building and the heritage as much drawing attention to the models in the room. The room needed to be bright for the cameras so our Lanta LED batons were used on the brick work to highlight the space as well as adding plenty of ambient light on the far side of the room. For the cars we started by rigging some Martin Rush Pars. They have excellent colour reproduction so could match the tungsten feel in the room. Robe Robin Led Beam 150’s, used more for their zoom as a wash fixture, were able to cover the cars in a perfectly matched and even wash. We subtly changed the wash from a teal to a warm, natural white when the covers were removed. This made the absolute beauty of the hand crafted cars come to life.
In addition to the lighting we provided audio support installing one of our d&b PAs and a Sennheiser mic package for the presenter. Fans around the world who missed out due to Coronavirus were able to watch this launch via their YouTube and Facebook channels, check out the full video here.
Outside of the main space, Morgan wanted to showcase a few of the models to demonstrate the history, design and manufacture of the cars. So, on their long drive through the factory, all manor of amazing cars were featured to tease out of all the different manufacturing stages. We lit these with our outdoor, high powered floods, the ADJ Hex 32.
